The origin of the May Fourth Youth Day 

The May 4th Youth Day originates from China's anti-imperialist and patriotic May 4th Movement in 1919. The May 4th Patriotic Movement is a thorough patriotic movement against imperialism and feudalism. It is also the beginning of China's new democratic revolution. In 1939, Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Northwest Youth National Salvation Federation provisions on May 4 for the Chinese Youth Day.

May 4th Youth Day holiday 

In April 2008, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council approved the "Youth Day" holiday for people between 14 and 28 years of age, and more than 300 million young people will have a half-day holiday on May 4 each year.
